About

What Are We Doing In Scotland

Find out more about our mission and the work we are doing

Who Are We?

We are a Christian family that has understood the vocation to Christian mission in its transcultural and transnational ambit, responding to God's call to Missionary Work in the United Kingdom. Our mission here is none other than to work in the service of Jesus Christ, our Lord, who has sent us to fulfil his project of total redemption for the people of this country.

Our work here can be defined as the mission of every Christian who has understood the Work of Christ on the Cross. Our aim here is to offer every person, anywhere in this country, a valid opportunity to be challenged by the explicit Gospel and the call to faith in Christ, with the prospect of accepting him as their Saviour and Lord, becoming a member of his body (Church) and actively participating in the search for reconciliation, peace, and justice on earth for all those who believe.

Who Do We Work With?

In Scotland, we are directly involved in Christian education at different levels. Luana works with BCM (Bible Centred Ministries), helping with the Christian formation of schoolchildren. José Júnior works with Tilsley College/GLO-Europe, helping to train missionaries and Christian leaders who are committed to the Holy Scriptures and eager for Christian service, both in their respective churches and missionary field.

But Why Scotland?

Scotland came into our lives in an unusual way, which certainly reinforces the divine action in the whole process that involves our mission here. In 2016, we came here for the first time to visit a couple of friends who were on mission in the country. We were impacted both by the history of the place and its enormous contribution to the Protestant faith, as well as by the reality in which the Scottish Church found itself at that time. From that experience, a strong sense of mission filled our hearts. Our prayers began at the moment we returned to Brazil.

We returned to the country in 2017/18, again to visit this couple of friends. In 2019, after a long time reflecting on the subject, we decided to spend a whole year in Scotland for a deep immersion in the local culture. It was wonderful.

After this period here, we returned to Brazil during the second phase of the global COVID19 pandemic. We had an invitation to return to Scotland but, because of the closure of the borders during that period, we were unable to return to the country and were stuck in Brazil. In 2022, when we were almost convinced that the mission to Scotland was no longer a possibility, God set everything in motion. A couple of friends, who have been involved in missionary service in Scotland for more than 50 years, extended an invitation to us: "Do you want to come to Scotland to work with us?"

Well, here we are.

The most important thing to say here is that it all happened in God's timing!

On the Church that welcomed us to Scotland.

Our family lives in the small town of Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire. It must be said that this town is very relevant to our mission in Scotland, as it is the town that welcomed us in a particularly loving way. And at the heart of this city is the church with which we have developed strong links since our first trip in 2016. KCC (Kilsyth Community Church).

A Christian community with a marvellous history of service to the local community and an unconditional love for preaching the Gospel. It is certainly a privilege for our family to be part of this community of faith.
